Best of Show Winner
2002 San Joaquin County Fair

.
 Best in Show
San Joaquin County Fair 2000

This adorable little girl is Amy, one of my favorites designed by Donna RuBert. When I made this one, I had no idea that she would turn out so well. I became so engrossed in her that I couldn't seem to stop thinking of more and more to do with her.

I spent about 3 months just putting beads all over her dress which is made out of white eyelet and then just had to decorate her mohair wig with silk roses. When I finished her,

I decided to enter her in a competition at our San Joaquin County Fair. I was really surprised to find out that she not only got a first place, but also won Best in Show! WOW! What a thrill! I hope you enjoy seeing her picture. It really doesn't do her justice as I either need a better digital camera or need to learn how to use the one I have better:-)

San Joaquin County Fair Winner,
June 1998

This is Joy by Dawn Adams. My version of Joy was to make her up as a Child Flapper, she captivated the judges at our County fair. We are very proud of her here at our studio! Because of all the beading done on her costume, she took about 5 months to complete.

 About me

I am not an angel but I always loved dolls. When I was a little girl, I was so much of a little Tom Boy that I guess my parents didn’t think I needed very many dolls. I would get a few now and then and would want to just keep them nice and pretty, but I always ended up playing with them until they were just awful. Clothes dirty. Hair tangled up. Some left out in bad weather.

A couple of the old ones I had were made of some sort of cellulous material that would even melt when wet. I just wasn’t very lucky with my girlhood dolls. As I grew up, I was always drawn to beautiful dolls. A department store window, tastefully done up with dolls would always make me pause along my way and spend several minutes just admiring the dolls.
